Honesty fuck mike love I used to be a fan of his baritone voice but the more I know about him the more I wish he was kicked out of the group. He's fucking useless no instrumental skills let alone any lyrical talent. He hated good vibrations and consider it "avant garde shit" and he hated smile even more during recording and did everything he could to make sure it never saw the light of day. Now he considers it a masterpiece and even claims to have written all the songs on it. He doesn't care about music only cares about having his pockets filled and your opinion of him.

You guys have to admit, Mike's lyrics for Good Vibrations was and still is pretty rad.

Always wondered why one verse was short and didn't rhyme.

Why is Mike Love featured fairly prominently in these webisodes, and Van Dyke Parks is not? If there's one person who was most responsible for SMiLE's demise, wouldn't that be Mike? If there's one person who was most supportive of Brian's work on SMiLE, wasn't it Van Dyke? Oh, and if your subconscious tells you I'm not the first to call Mike a historical revisionist, it might have something to do with Van Dyke applying the term to Mike well before any preparation for this release of SMiLE.

I don't doubt the musical brilliance of Brian Wilson; but Mike Love does have an amazing voice and "I, I love the colorful clothes she wears And the way the sunlight plays upon her hair" lyrics still give me tingles every time I hear them.

Brian conceived, wrote, arranged, performed on and produced GV, Mike Love bullied his way into writing alternative lyrics and sang bass. How does that equate to 50%?

The fact is that Brian did do everything but had to find things for the others to do AND continually explain himself to Mike Love. Dennis was always supportive of Brian. Brian would always give huge credit to others even when their contribution was minimal. There is no myth about the creator of the music. Brian Wilson is a legend and Mike Love is still Mike Love.

From now on I'm going to re-include the 'we find' lyric from Good Vibrations. Just to annoy people who have an irrational hatred of Mike Love.

Wow after all these years I thought the myth was Brian did everything, the others contributed nothing but insults and then he went crazy.

@blueticecho Not quite sure that comment makes sense, but I think this OLD music is still relevant..... even if today's music (for the most part) sucks.

They should have included a reproduction of the original &' single of Good Vibrations in the box set. Other than that, the box set is fantastic.

If the music today was worth a shit none of this forty years ago bullshit would even matter.
