the live versions I heard are so much better...this feels stilted (though I still love it) - compared to live where it really cranks...

this song was inspired by the ICE SKATING RINK that was down the block from Brother Studios...that's why he says, "...it's so cold I go brrrrr."

One of their best tunes from the 70s. Brian really seemed to enjoy playing this one live.

A little odd, but I still enjoy it! Like it a lot better in 2012 than in 1977. I get the humor no wand it is kinda funky

Mike Love singing this song just makes it sound creepy.

the riffs are pretty stock - though - if this came out a few years later - it would have fit in with the whole New Wave sound - the production is interesting - but - they should have went all out - really punched stuff up - sped stuff up - do a show with the Ramones - (do "rock and roll high school" together perhaps) - could have gotten a couple fluke hits that way (which they ended up doing 10 years later with Kokomo)

Bad song, bad album. I still can't believe the Beach Boys thought it was appropriate to release this album as professionals. They must've really been lacking in songs (which is evidenced by their next two disasters MIU and LA (Light Album). They really pissed the Endless Summer comeback away as quickly as possible. It's not to say that there's not the shell of some decent tracks from Love You, but they really needed some lyric (and subject) rewrites and more instrumentation than the farty synths.

he was right ahead of New Wave with all the keyboards - he should have teamed up with the Ramones or something...instead of Phil Spector having done so.....

Classic song from a classic album. I do wonder if Brian was taking a little dig at some of his fellow musicians like Jimmy Page and Johnny Thunders, who had VERY young girlfriends (Jimmy's being 14) from the Sunset Strip scene that the Beach Boys were largely responsible for.

@meanalcohol And by people around the world, you mean Mike Love. Between Love and Capitol, Brian never had a real chance. The Beatles had George Martin going to bat for them - who did Brian have defending his work? VAN DYKE PARKS? Had SMiLE been released, the game could have been changed. And Brian was losing it BEFORE the Beatles competition.
