Man Denny was all energy. What a great drummer for this early Beach Boys stuff. I would have loved to hear what he could have done with some punk music.

Who ever was called "King of the Surf Guitar", it applies to Carl as well. He had his own style that isn't imitated as far as I know. Seems he had a short life. I used to have this album.

That pickup with palm leaves as covers was pretty cool.

There is something about this version. A bunch of sort of hidden intricacies that I can't quite put my finger on. Also, the roller-coaster-screams add a lot. I played this a lot more than any Beatles album, that's for sure. This and the Wild Angels soundtrack Davie Allen and the Arrows did for Mike Curb. What a time it was.

I love Dick Dale but this version is way more swingin'. Carl Wilson sounds awesome on this.

This in our house was bigger than Meet the Beatles, I loved this so much! I had no idea Get Around wasnt live though? I still yell out the intros, because of people like you, this next song were gonna sing was number one in the nation! I had forgotten the 2 and 1/2 .. Other favorites were Monster Mash, Graduation Day, and isnt In My Room on this as well? At the time we had never heard of Dick Dale, but I agree Carl Wilson played great guitar, Al Jardine was the dentist on Rhythm right

They are talking as if The Beach Boys became famous and successful because of The Wrecking Crew, they don't think who made those compositions, who sang the songs and who managed the Wrecking Crew at the recording sessions, already the crew didn't play at all the albums. Finally i'm not writing a literary work,so don't mind about the sentence structure...

What are you talking about ?...You don't need to explain how he is a great musician,i know it and i'm respectful to him as a musician,to him and all the band.I wrote that as an allusion, because i'm tired of those crappy studio musician stories like this.... blueticecho (4 months ago) 0 Marked as spam Reply | Spam Is this really Carl? Could he really play this good in 1964? Or is this some of B wilson studio tricks............

He could play he was heavy into chuck berry and dick dale then and he did a lot with chords on later records, at some point in a radio inteview he sited jimi hendrix as an influence [ they didnt have an article on him in guitar player magazine for nothing ] .

No tricks-"Beach Boys Concert "was based on the "Live in Sacramento" recordings. Brian decided Fun Fun Fun and I get around were not good enough and substituted the studio recordings but the rest was as played with overdubbed vocals in some cases.

no,of course it was a studio musician ! because Carl only knew to hold the guitar but couldn't play it.....He passed away without unable to prove to the youtube members that he can play the guitar well .....
