For those of you that are wondering why this was not the Top Ten or even Top Five hit it deserved to be, please let me tell you why. As a 36 year veteran of radio programming I can tell you without hesitation that there is only one reason this song was not a bigger hit: NO ONE KNEW WHAT THE FRICKIN' NAME OF THE SONG WAS! "It's OK" is mentioned ONE TIME in the whole song! I always refer to it as "'Train In Vain' Syndrome". The Clash could have had a Top Ten hit with that if anybody would have known what to ask for in the stores. Remember that chart positions were derived from airplay AND sales, and if a person could not walk in to a record shop back in the day and clearly state what song they were looking for, usually they were not able to purchase it. That was the case with this, which is sad because it was one of THE best Beach Boys songs of the 1970's...
