It takes time to set up the drum kits and other stuff, plus the union labor to do it, and NBC was notorious at the time for being cheap. Now everyone knows why Vicki Peterson was my favorite Bangle. Funny to see Michael with the tambourine; usually Debbi gets it when they won't let her play drums.

That used to be the deal to go on Late Night With David Letterman. Everyone had to play with Paul and the band. Don't really know if it was a money or production thing. I heard when Huey Lewis performed on there during the "Sports" era they could only afford him and not The News.
