Goodbye Columbus

Jim Yester

"Live"

The Association

Got to say hello it's a lucky day

Kiss the moon goodbye and be on our way

It's a lucky day 'cause I found you

Gonna build a new world around you

Touch the sun and run

It's a lucky day

Hello life

Goodbye Columbus (Columbus Goodbye)

I've got a feelin' that you're gonna hear from us (Goodbye)

You're gonna know that we've taken the world

By surprise

Got that look in our eyes

Its a lucky day

Just for changin'

Leavin' the old world behind

Lucky day

For walkin' a new road

Just to clear your mind

It's a day for startin' a new way

Tellin' the old one goodbye

Lucky day

For gettin' above it

Spread your wings and fly

Hello life

Goodbye Columbus (Columbus Goodbye)

I've got a feelin' that you're gonna hear from us (Goodbye)

You're gonna know that we've taken the world

By surprise

Got that look in our eyes

Its a lucky day

Goodbye Columbus (Columbus Goodbye)

I've got a feelin' that you're gonna hear from us (Goodbye)

You're gonna know that we've taken the world

By surprise

Got that look in our eyes

Its a lucky day

Day yeah

Goodbye

Goodbye Columbus

Goodbye

Goodbye Columbus

Goodbye

Goodbye Columbus

Goodbye

Goodbye Columbus

Goodbye

Goodbye Columbus

On this day in 1969 {March 9th} the Association performed "Goodbye Columbus" on the CBS-TV program 'The Ed Sullivan Show'... And on the same show Jeannie C. Riley sang her #1 hit "Harper Vally PTA" and CCR did "Proud Mary", which reached #2 {for 3 weeks}... R.I.P. CCR's Tom Fogerty {1941 - 1990} and Mr. Sullivan {1901 - 1974}... {See the next post below}...

On this day in 1969 {September 27th} the Association performed "Goodbye Columbus" on the late Dick Clark's American Bandstand... Six months earlier on March 15th it entered Billboard's Hot Top 100 chart; and even though it spent 11 weeks on the Top 100 it only peaked at #80... The song was from the soundtrack album from the movie of the same name, the film starred Richard Benjamin, Ali MacGraw, and Jack Klugman... R.I.P. Mr. Clark and Mr. Klugman turn 90 years old this past April 27th...
