Sam Cooke did the original and it was awesome. The Animals do have some great original songs of their own, On this one, they seem awkward and high!! Remakes are difficult to outdo and this is a prime example.

To: misanthrope8The reason that Eric Burdon doesn't shake in this video, is because the Animals are performing on the Ed Sullivan Show. I remember watching this on tv in the mid 1960s when I was 17. Ed Sullivan was very strict on the performances done on his show. Check out videos of The Animals performing in clubs in England in the 1960s, in those Eric Burdon really shakes and goes wild. ;-)
