Per the slide show, had he not taken those couple of years off in 1987 following the divorce, he might have survived on the charts a little while longer. In 1989 when he resumed his career Garth Brooks, Alan Jackson, Clint Black, etc. were in full swing and nobody could really go up against that marketing juggernaut with much success. By 1993 T.G. and most all of his peers from that era were off the chart for good :/

This song sounds good but I can not condone its message. War is hell on the homefront too? And she cheats on her husband possibly giving his life to defend our country? I can't for the life of me enjoy this song. Does anyone agree with me? I guess its plot line just really pisses me off.
