On the contrary, I heard this version first. I felt the Bros. Johnson's version was too slow. It's all about who's used to what version. Their's is nice and dreamy. But, Tevin was a young teen at the time, and his production team may have felt an uptempo, youthful version would be more appropriate for his age and his intended fan base. It also fits with the material on his first album. Plus, why try to recreated a beautiful song the exact same way? It's a cover, not a carbon copy.
