Lyrics:

She packed my lunch up in a box for my first day of school

I said I wish you could go with me today

She said you're gonna be alright just like I promised you

Just remember any time you feel afraid

I want you to smile

And know you're not alone

Dry those little eyes

I'll be here when you come home

I'm always in your heart

Even when we are apart

It's only for a while

So I want you to smile

She packed my suitcase in the trunk when I turned 18

And drove me all the way to Tennessee

She said I know you're gonna make it, I've got faith in you

And while you're out there chasin' down your dreams

I want you to smile

And know you're not alone

Dry those little eyes

I'll be there when you come home

I'm always in your heart

Even when we are apart

It's only for a while

So I want you to smile

She fought for three long years and didn't wanna leave

No matter what they told her, she still believed

So she used the tools God gave her

But in the end they couldn't save her

As I sat there by her bed watchin' her sleep

She must have heard a tear roll down my cheek

That's when she said to me

I want you to smile

And know you're not alone

Dry those little eyes

I'll be there when you come home

I'm always in your heart

Even when we are apart

It's only for a while

So I want you to smile

I just shared this on my facebook page for my sister. She is one of the biggest Terri Clark fans I know (we were at a concert a long time ago in PA, some fair, it was pour rain, and my sister all but threw me to the ground to get up front to high five Terri Clark - which she did - and was so happy! Hell, I was so happy for her, even though I wanted to punch her for pushing/punching me so hard to get me out of the way) anyway, my Mom died of cancer, and both my sister and I struggle with the pain of it to this day (and it has been over 25 years). Losing a mom, especially when your the daughter is so hard. Thank you Terri for sharing this part of your life with us! XO
