This song is from a project CD called "Freedom", compiled by an organization called International Justice Mission. The goal of the organization is to seek justice for victims of various forms of violent oppression, such as modern-day slavery, sex trafficking, illegal detention, etc. 28 Christian artists donated their time and talents to the creation of this double-CD.
The song itself is about thanking God for what He has given us, and that everything that we have really belongs to Him. "There is nothing I can call my own."
The song was written by Mike Donehey of Tenth Avenue North, along with Philip LaRue, Jason Ingram, and Drew Middleton.
Lyrics:
Verse 1:
Forgive me Lord for thinking
You would ever need me
Could you ever need me?
Cause you spoke me into this existence
So why do I resist this?
What is this I can't let go?
Chorus:
Cause all I have is Yours, Oh Lord
Yes, all I have is Yours
Verse 2:
You are Lord of all creation
Author of salvation
Where else can I go?
Cause even this breath that I am taking
You have given to me
There's nothing I can call my own
Chorus x2
Bridge:
And all I have is what you give me
What you give is more than I need
So open my hands to give back freely
The same way You've given to me x2
Chorus x3
