At that time, there seem to be something very heavy on her mind. It seemed as though she knew and wanted to connect with me. I love many of Teena Marie's songs, but I had disconnected with her after attending one of her concerts that was blatantly awful. Then a friend of mine call me and told me he had backstage passes to Teena's concert in Riverside. I started to pass because I had attended one of her concerts as I mentioned, but he talked me into it. It was one of the best decisions I made in my life. I thought her voice was all studio work, and I mentioned why. I didn't know she had been going through so much drama in her life that she was down during that period of her life. She was extra cool that day. Her rehearsals sound as good as her studio recordings. The people that were in her circle which I had about two brief conversations with were good down to earth people as well. Teena had food delivered and let everyone eat before her. One of the dancers had to go get her plate, because Teena would not have gotten anything to eat. Anyway I was the only one sitting out in the audience studying her crews every move, and she walk out in front of the stage during 2 of her breaks as though she had something real deep on her mind and stood there looking down fumbling with something in her hand. I missed the opportunity to walk up to her several times, because of my own thinking about being a pesty fan. I believe I could have gotten her to open up. She was very approachable and I felt a transference which felt like something was about to happen. I shook it off and later enjoyed the concert. Then unexpectedly in about 2 years she died.

Here is what is crazy: I recall attending her concert in Riverside, CA a couple years before she passed, and I saw her standing on the stage over and over puzzled like there was something she wanted to say. However, this was during her rehearsal for the evening concert. She kept walking up to the front of the stage and the she would fiddle with something she had in her hand. Then stand their pondering, and I was receiving a weird energy from her: Ghost-like. It seemed as though something was about to transpire. I shook it off, and they call break, food, etc. Nonetheless, There was no one sitting in the audience except for me.
