Well John... I agree to some that his solo work is more balanced...but then two of my favourites, one since childhood, have been Hank Williams and Bob Dylan - and I reckon Teddy is a better singer than both!

It's a bad mix, sorry. His plaintive voice is strained and overwhelmed by the rest of the 'stuff'. Listen to his other solo versions and find the 'less is more' . I'm not carping, because he is an emerging Great.

Let's see: Teddy Thompson singing, Emily Smith backing him up with vocals and rhythm, and Jerry Douglas on dobro. What? Have I gone to heaven!!!? It doesn't get much better than this. Perhaps if Mary Black was here, I would swoon uncontrollably.
