...'this is the shit, kids. TED, 1978. Before Scream Dream, too-much-80s-hair, Damn Yankees and all that 'Spirit of the Wild, aging rock-star, NRA, salvage-the-flagging-career nonsense. Here he is: skinny, crazy-as-fuck and playing his ass off... 'with Charlie Huhn doing a fine job standing in for Derek St. Holmes, the voice behind Nuge's legendary original lineup. TED FUCKING NUGENT, STRANGLEHOLD, PERIOD.

This is killer. THANK YOU for posting this. I agree that Ted was at his peak here. He plays Paul Reed Smith guitars now and wears a head mic. I think all that bison meat affected his brain!

@backbeat56 this is a little off topic but have youever listened to live after death the double live album from maiden? dude it's twice as fast as the originals which I think sucks its as if they were trying to hurry up and get out of there or they were pressured to fit it all in or something anyways very dissapointing. this was not a live energy/adrenalin thing you can totally tell!! wtf?

@backbeat56 - with all due respect, backbeat56... what you see captured here in terms of tempo change? nothing short of intentional by Ted and his ultraprofessional band. they were playing mind-bending blues, but nonetheless blues... on a TV show. and TV audiences by-and-large, to this day, still want to be ENTERTAINED, not made to FEEL - most people live life superficially. slow blues has depth, but if you play it up-tempo, it's less provocative, more palatable for TV. my two cents - peace...

@HALEYSABAI - Posted this two years ago, now; couldn't resist responding to HALEYSABAI, because for me HAILEY epitomizes misinformed social networking babble. First of all, Chaplin was a genius; if you're being critical, compare Ted to Buster Keaton, maybe. And you'd still be wrong. Cartoonish? Yes, but cool like Bugs Bunny. As far as Ted not being a great guitarist? I will understand if Haley next posts how Justin Bieber trumps Micheal Jackson. Ted a great showman? No Shit?! Peace. Rock.

@Whawhazat Was there ever any other Charlies, Chuck, and or Charles in this group? This guy would be in his fifties now? You say he now sings for Foghat, Could you give me one song of Foghat with him in it? I know it sounds crazy but Charlie Hunn you say, looks like someone I went out with before and whom was very sweet.

Does a pro like Ted mean to play this song to fast live?....is it for the extra energy?...or a mistake....as a drummer I used a "BeatBug" live to get the correct tempo because I had a habit of playing to fast when in a live environment. Anyone with pro stage experience have a comment? P.S.....What a GREAT song!!

His "Spirit of the Wild" came about many years ago...I've seen the Nuge 48 times in concert, and he has been all about the Spirit of the Wild since the very early 80's He is just a lot more into it than he may have spoke of 30 years ago. 1st time I heard him make reference to the Spirit of the Wild, was back in '83...as he played "Great White Buffalo.
