Agreed. There's a lot of pain and angst here. Someone told me that this song is about Roland's mother?

from what i can see in this video, a Roland Jupiter 8, a PPG wave, then Yamaha cp-70 grand and either a korg poly-six or prophet 5 that's siting on top of the Yamaha,

I guess it is beauty in the eye of the beholder but I like the 85 better. Manny's playing both, though. I like the whole 85 version much better than this.. pacing is better, sound cleaner. Just me.

I have a funny history with TFF. Stationed in Germany 83-85, I had Songs from the Big Chair and loved it. Have had it continually since. Got Sowing the seeds, meh. Then a few years ago, Elemental, liked it. Then Everybody loves a happy ending, LOVED it. Then Raoul, liked it. Lastly, listened to The Hurting LOVED LOVED LOVED it. Now my second favority after SFTBC. And this is my favorite from it. Followed by Suffer the Children.

No offence but, you gotta be joking. If their musicianship was "poor", they wouldn't have lasted 30 weeks, much less 30+ years, which is how long they've been playing to this day.

I think David Gilmour and his solo on Comfortably Numb is a good example. He constructed the solo such on the record that it is not so easy to recreate live, and he usually improvises his solos (somewhat) live anyways. David is extremely accurate and punctual with his guitar playing, but not that technical. His most "technical" performance would probably be the Pulse version of Comfortable Numb. Look that up if you haven't seen. Mind blowing. :) That is, if you like Pink Floyd.
