"Taste of India" is a song by American hard rock band Aerosmith. It was released in 1997 on the band's twelfth studio album Nine Lives. It was released as a promotional single to rock radio, where it peaked at #3 on the Mainstream Rock Tracks chart in 1998. The song was written by lead singer Steven Tyler, guitarist Joe Perry, and songwriter Glen Ballard. The song, which clocks in at just under six minutes, contains elements of Indian music throughout, along with driving guitar riffs and a heavy backbeat, as well a sarangi intro by Ramesh Mishra. Joe Perry and Brad Whitford both play Stratocasters on this song.

This song had not been played live since the Nine Lives Tour until their concert in Bangalore on the 2nd of June, 2007. It was the opening song at the concert, and was played with the Indian flag as a backdrop.

Met him at California Pizza Kitchen in Palm Desert California and sat down and hung out with him for like an hour... Then he recognized me at the gas station a few days later. He was standing in front of me and I had no idea, he turned around and bought my icee and let me keep the change! BEST WEEK OF MY LIFE.

1986-1998 was like the 2nd coming for Aerosmith. Nine Lives, often criticized, was by far one of there best albums though not so commercialized. Unlike the albums before it, It was like they broke free of the sell outs, and put there own creativity to work, raw & unconstrained like Rock should be. Unlike just push play it wasn't over produced or over sampled. It just was a good album. Oh how the times have changed.

The bad thing about Nine Lives is that it was the begining of the end of the "modern" Aerosmith. Glenn Ballard and Steven Tyler wrote SEVERAL songs similar to this one and because it did not "sound" like past Areosmith albums. All the songs where dumped except this one and I think one more. where included on the album. Too bad, I think this is the best song on the ablum and i would LOVE to hear the other Ballard/Tyler songs.
