Recorded May 10th 1940. Here you'll find electric guitar, piano, blues singing and kazoo. Sounds great for a record that's been broken and glued back together!

I don't think he did very well after his wife passed away in the early fifties. He never seemed to get into the folk-blue revival of the early 60's that some of his contemporaries enjoyed. Pretty sure he died broke. It's too bad because he was basically head and shoulders above all the other acoustic country blues style players in terms of skill and creativity. His place in chicago was known as the center for all blues players coming and going. He was the best!

DON'T YOU LIE TO ME (NO ME MIENTAS) Compuesta por Hudson Whittaker There's two kinds of people that I just can't stand (HAY DOS CLASES DE PERSONAS A LAS QUE NO PUEDO SOPORTAR) a cold-hearted woman and a lying man (UNA MUJER CON EL CORAZON DE HIELO Y UN HOMBRE MENTIROSO) So don't you lie to me (ASI QUE NO ME MIENTAS) Don't you lie to me (NO ME MIENTAS) Because it makes me mad, and I get evil as a man can be (PORQUE ENLOQUEZCO Y ME VUELVO EL HOMBRE MAS MALVADO)

@guitarandharp I'm with you on this, if the kazoo was mixed lower it would be alot better but it's still a stain on tampa's body of work

The song was recorded by Chuck Berry February 12, 1960. This was a favorite song for the Rolling Stones members, so they recorded the song like other Chuck Berry numbers, for exemple Come On, Carol, Around and Around, Route 66 and Let It Rock. Tampa Red was one of Chuck Berry's favorite performers in the 1940's.

Hi Everybody!

elchuckko. "There is only so much you can do over a 1-4-5 progression." It's fascinating what has been achieved with it but well said.
