Focus would've been what it was with another keyboardist/flautist, but it wouldn't have been what it was without Akkerman on guitars/lutes. Just wouldn't have happened.

You need both to get the ultimate ''Focus sound'', Thijs van Leer's classical background and Jan Akkerman's Blues/jazz based guitar skills. Without one of them, Focus as we know it wouldn't have existed the way we know the band today. That's how it is.
