I just had a horrible thought. Someone in the comments mentioned Rob being 'nasally' in those days. I'm not sure if that was it; I loved that sound. But hey, what affect does coke have on things like your nose? I read somewhere, when he stopped smoking at one point, his voice also got smoother.Drugs. What stupid things. I wish this wasn't so much a part of having too much money.I'm new to Take That. I love every one of them guys.Heather

That "Sweet Melissa" part is from the original song sung by Barry Manilow and is a tribute to the singer Melissa Manchester. So I assume they changed it simply to make it more appealing to the (mainly female) fans :)

Ok who choose Gary's clothes in this song.... everybody is sexy there and he looks like a lumberjack!

Hmmmm....I don't believe that's what happened, at all! Rob was only 16 years old when TT started. Think about that! 16! A boy! All were older. Nigel Martin Smith did not nurture young Rob, as he should have,,, being so young. Nigel wanted Gary to be the center of the band and so did Gary. Granted, Gary was the songwriter, at the time. But, Rob had ideas that were shut down, and he didn't sign up to be Gary's back-up dancer. Rob knew deep down that he was meant for more and needed to grow up.

If only they sang this on the Progress Live tour... I would love to hear Rob sing it now since he was a bit nasally singing live back then, but now his voice is stronger and he has a richer tone... Still think my fav performance of this song is on the Beautiful World tour (makes me cry every time) but Could it be Magic will always have a place in my heart cos it was the first TT song I heard and I instantly fell in love with them all...

Even back then Rob had it all. Showmanship, looks, personality, charisma, humor and, of course, talent! He has the X Factor....something that cannot be taught...... You've got to be born with it!

OK, lots are gonna yell at me, but I think that Robbie was a little 'precious' in the old days. I liked him, but I have the feeling he was insufferable to work with because he began to believe the hype-he was 'perfect' and didn't need anyone. I have the visual of him taking a dump and then demanding that everyone tell him it's the most prefect crap they ever saw. It's the Muhammad Ali syndrome - 'I'm the Greatest' and fuck you if you don't believe it.

@weethewriter Ive heard that they didnt end up doing this, is that right? Im so surprised, it was one of Robs best moments in TT, along with Everything Changes. I love the whole dance routine too. This was their perfect opportunity to sing his lead vocal songs...I dont get why they didnt.
