Every year the owls put envelopes
Under the door,
Invitations to join Dumbledore,
But none with my name.
One by one and
Once by two
All my brothers left home,
Leaving me at The Burrow alone,
Dreaming of the red train.
But I'm older now,
Truth be told somehow
I thought this day'd never come.
Take me to Diagon Alley
For parchments and robes
And a wand that lights up like a jewel.
Take me to Platform 9 3/4,
Put me on that train,
And take me to Hogwarts,
Take me to school.
19 years have passed
And I'm in the station once more,
It's my children now trying to board
And leave for the year.
One runs forward,
One stays back
With some last words to say
To his father, and then turns my way,
And I shed a tear.
He just thinks that I
Hate to say "goodbye,"
But I wish that I could go, too.
