Paul McCartney - Take It Away - De su album de 1982; Tug Of War.

Take it away, wanna hear you play

Till the lights go down.

Take it away, don't you wanna stay

Till there's no one else around?

Take it away, wanna hear you play

Till the lights go down.

Take it away, don't you wanna stay

Till there's no one else around?

Lonely driver, out on the road,

With a hundred miles to go.

Soul survivor, carrying the load,

Switches on his radio.

Take it away, wanna hear you play

Till the lights go down. (down, down)

Take it away, don't you wanna stay

Till there's no one else around?

Mm-mm.

Take it away, wanna hear you play

Till the lights go down. (down, down)

Take it away, don't you wanna stay

Till there's no one else around?

In the audience, watching the show,

With a paper in his hand. (in his hand, in his hand)

Some important impresario

Has a message for the band.

Ooh, take it away, wanna hear you play

Till the lights go down. (down, down)

Take it away, don't you wanna stay

Till there's no one else around.

You never know who may be listening to you.

(you never know who may be listening to you)

You never know who may be listening to you.

Take it away,

Take it away.

After hours, late in the bar,

By a darkened corner seat.

Faded flowers waits in the jar

Till the evening is complete.

Out of all the Beatles, Paul was the one who most often sounded like "The Beatles," that is, he, more than any of the others, save for a handful of songs in total by the others, wrote songs that sounded like Beatles songs. George Harrison once said derisively back in the mid-'70's, "If you want Beatles, listen to Paul McCartney." Like sounding like The Beatles would somehow be a bad thing.... This song is one of those Beatlesque tunes with its light, classy touch, cheek, lovely colors, charm and smooth harmonies. In those first two or so years after it became known that The Beatles had called it quits, the craving for that magical sound was strong. To be cut off from The Beatles; for all that to be over, well, it left such an enormous gap, though Cat Stevens provided a certain satisfying comfort, as did Paul Simon. And of course The Stones were cresting with Sticky Fingers and Exile on Main Street. But it really wasn't until Bowie came along with his Ziggy Stardust thing in late '72 that the '70's started to take shape and become it's own thing. Led Zeppelin, Elton John and Jethro Tull were HUGE by '73. Joni Mitchell became meaningful. Queen were starting to leave their mark....
