Tad's label, Sub Pop, were a crafty bunch. They knew how to start a hype storm and lot of people credit them with the explosion of Grunge in 90's. In one notable occasion Sub Pop photographers convinced Tad's burly frontman, Tad Doyle, to dress in flannel, jumberjack gear, and don a chainsaw for a photo shoot to give the impression that he was just a normal blue collar garage band rocker instead of his actual college educated persona.

Tad is quoted by all the big Seattle bands in one interview or book or biography, as one of their influences... so event though they never actually 'made it' (by whos judgement?) they are certainly recorded in history as a band who helped make the famous Seattle sound (some call grunge)!!!11 years ago

Wrong, actually after their 3rd album, when they changed drummers' was the point most think they became more metal. A dubble bassdrum kicking drummer. If you listen closely , you can tell the difference. I personally love the steve weed era/1st three albums better, but some of the other shit roks too!11 years ago
