LOL. Sorry, not even close. They're both good guitarists with different approaches... Mayer has a more polished urbane sound and Tab plays real cajun rock and blues straight out the bayou. To be fair, this video isn't one of Tab's better guitar performances. Go see him live - you'll have a great time, guaranteed.

@motharfoecar you are totally right, he is very real. I bought the man a drink and we talked for like 15 minutes or so about blues, what artists we both like and his career. He was just awesome. A real man's man and he can play one hell of a guitar.

He is the real deal, as said below. The best blues singer & guitatr player I've ever seen. Have seen him perform 4 times & going again in Tampa in Aug. Got to talk to him after show in Tampa last yr. Saw him in Orlando & New Orleans so far this yr. Very nice & down to earth also. Go see him in person if you can.

Tab Benoit is one of the best bluesmen out there. He can play a mean guitar and when I saw him in Birmingham, Al he also killed on the drums. What a talented and nice guy as well, he was so gracious to fans and just fantastic. Amazing is what he is!!
