Intelligent design and spontaneous generation are both difficult to sell to the opposing side. Regardless of what happened pre-historically, omission of the designer creates one small problem called "Cell Theory." Cell theory states that all cells come from pre-existing cells. If this is true, one must answer, "How then did the first cell come to be if that is the explanation for origin?" The question will eventually be answered to all of us, or not.

2. A planet that forms with oxygen or plants from the get go. Plants require oxygen, and oxygen requires plants (as far as we know).

Do you accept the scientific law of Cause and Effect? The Effect (a universe exploding into existance, such as the Big Bang theory) must be caused. It cannot just happen. Let's drop the assumptions for a sec. What are the requirements of the basic macroevolution theory? 1. Addition of DNA. You cannot get to a complex organism from a simple organism to a complex organism without it. How would this work? Mutations modify or remove DNA, not add it. (see next post)

Why can't the universe have started itself? There's no reason why there must have been a creator or an external force. It can't be complexity because then the creator is necessarily as complicated as the universe he created, so therefore he must require a creator as well. You're needlessly complicating the question by assuming a creator, when it's much simpler to skip the assumption. Saying that micro evolution is possible but not macro is like saying you can walk 10 feet but not a mile.

How did this universe start? Einstein and many other scientists agree that the universe had a start. The universe can not have started itself; there had to be an external force. As for evolution, what kind of evolution? I do not dispute Micro-evolution, where a species adapts to its circumstances, but stays the same species. I do however dispute that a species can adapt itself into a different species. That would require the addition of genetic code.

You know, there's just as likely a chance that in poker you will be dealt a shitty (but specific) hand as a royal flush? Statistically, it doesn't matter how likely something will happen, because with the size of the universe, it's probably going to happen. Because something is specific doesn't mean it's designed by something else, and once you start assuming a designer, you must start thinking about what designed the designer. A universe with a creator is more complicated than one without

I'm going to have to split this comment up, because there's too much to cover in only 500 characters. We don't base facts off of what may or may not be our imagination, we base it off the amount of evidence in ratio to the extremity of the claim. If a claim has sufficient evidence to back it up, it's likely to be true. Evolution for example; mountains of evidence to back it up. God, however, is not only an extreme claim, but has absolutely zero evidence to back it up.

Good point, but then we can throw out the existence of the Higgs Bosun and evolution, as well as you existing. After all, any evidence that you exist could just be my imagination. The way this universe is organized is a bit too perfect for chance: Just enough water, just the right distance from the sun, atomic and molecular structures that follow a very orderly and logical structure and are not too big or small, and that little matter of life being on this planet in the first place.

Saying God doesn't exist is really akin to saying that unicorns don't exit, or fairies don't exist. There's no evidence for any of them, so it's just easier to say they don't exist at all. If you really want to have a serious discussion about it, then yeah, God can technically exist (like fairies or unicorns), but there's no good reason to believe it. Absence of evidence is evidence of absence.
