I actually disagree, at least early on. Most of Raise is not as in your face as this song, and has pretty cool gazey-like textures, so I can see how the shoegazing term got affixed to the band. Later albums are clearly not gaze. Kind of like Catherine Wheel. Early yes, later no.

Saw the Swervies last night here in South Australia. Brilliant, immersed in swirling waves of guitar, band almost in a trance at time. Onstage nearly two hours. Played all of Raise, 22 years melted away in an instant.

funny enough last time I saw swervedriver I was 8.5 months pregnant. Unborn son was bouncing like no tomorrow. I loved swervedriver favourite band at the time. 19.5 years later and my son is a very talented guitarist, loves very similar music to me albeit its not cool to like my music as its "old". Music is music ....listen to whats old listen to whats new listen to what you like ....whats it matter what age you are

UK Shoegaze was just a term to describe the fuzzy guitar sound, not all the bands stared at their feet! But I quite like the term, its endearing in a way. My Bloody Valentine, Curve, Swervedriver, Ride, Lush, Slowdive, so many amazing bands emerged in this era!!!

Wow, freaks me out to see kids posting their dad's listened to Swervedriver. Do yourself a favor and listen to some bands from your generation. They're still making amazing music today. Obligatory tip of the hat to the past but the kids today in 2013 are amazing. .
