some interesting info, but actually none of the members of Sweet were allowed to play their instruments on any of their 'A' sides until Little Willy (it was a contractual obligation that they had no say in). Never the less, a good early pop song.

Somehow at the age of 10 this one triggered my Sweet fascination.Feels a bit like growing up with the band, starting with the catchy c & c hits wich were considered safe enough for a 10 year old to play in front of granny during a birthday party.Until....The day i got my hands on the Sweet Fanny Adams album.Hell yeah, this one really kicked in from the moment the needle descended into the groove until both sides were played as loud as possible without trashing the sound.I grabbed my portable tape recorder, cleaned the heads and inserted a C90 of the best available quality i could get my hands on.Right...this one had to go perfect in one take, lowering volume so no rumble can affect the needle. Manually winded tape until it passed the rec head and start arming the system rec/pause, double check rec peak lvls with various fragments of the album, clean needle, check arm adjustments and carefully make sure the record is absolute clean before closing the dust cover. And like a real major Tom i release pause a fraction before Set Me Free kicks in and all systems are go, things are looking good so far.5 tracks later the critically timed docking between the 2 sides so timewise it sounded like playing a cd wich wasn`t invented yet...AC-DC`s almost done and by that time i`m monitoring my tape wich has a left reel that`s gaining rpm`s fast. With my heart pounding at the same increasing rate as that bloody reel i slowly reach for the pause button for the last time,it`s gonna be a close one this time. Finally,it`s a wrap. Pause, stop and gently eject. Mission succeeded, i`m almost in a euphoric state of mind.Record gets packed in 3 satin soft anti-static sleeves, forming a soft cushion for my most precious relic achieved in 14 years and gets stashed in a secure spot wich i will defend with my life if anyting or anyone forms a threat to it ...So...what did this Smeagol just created ? Yes,my personal high quality F.A. mastertape wich i stored away as well and only got used to clone a decent fresh copy sometimes. Even the best tapes wear out after running m on repeat practicly all day long, or got eaten by grumpy decks during my crusade to bring this album under the attention of as many people as possible. Yes,i was on a mission. A mission trying to get this band the attention they really deserved and even in the present it occasionally continues when i discuss rock with others and someone gets hit in their latent sweetspot. Those happy few get spammed by me with a massive Sweet discography for the rest of the evening. Anyway, this puber often unattendedly created a bit of a Sweet overkill and folks sometimes started guarding tapedecks & amplifiers as they rightfully suspected me being on a mission to hijack the audiosystem. My family somehow failed to sync their Sweet enthusiasm to my level and i transformed from cute little kid into a long haired rocker. But being an outcast sometimes was quite bearable and appealed more to me than joining the Barry and Eileen fanclub. It`s good to be a wild child at 14...In 1978 when Level Headed relaesed, "Lettres D'Amour" managed to create a smile on granny`s face once again. The band evolved into some kinda adultry and so did i, feeling like a young adult with growing interests. The hatchet got buried and peace ruled once more.Thnx for playing such an important role in the musical perception of this old metalhead over the years. \.,,./ (^.^) \.,,./Harald Willems,Netherlands
