This is one of the best ways of describing the racing thoughts of the anxious.

A perennial favorite - the lyrics are timeless. She was so amazing live during this period.

Probably the best song from Solitude Standing (and oy lady is that saying something!) It's one of those that pierces and haunts you, and stays in the heart more than the mind. Any year there has been an SV album, that year has been redeemed musically and elevated culturally for me.

I won't use words again They don't mean what I meant They don't say what I said They're just the crust of the meaning With realms underneath Never touched Never stirred Never even moved through If language were liquid It would be rushing in Instead here we are In a silence more eloquent Than any word could ever be

@ItSpeaksToMe, this is great news. What a beautiful song, with a great set of lyrics. I had never heard this live version before. So hypnotic and wonderful...

If language were a liquid it would be rushing in. Instead here we are in a silence more eloquent than any words could ever be. These words are too solid, they don't move fast enough, to catch the blur in the brain as it flies by and is gone. - Suzanne Vega

This is my favourite Suzanne Vega song. I spoke to her after her Cadogan hall gig in London this June (2010) and she said a rereording of this will be on her third "unplugged" CD which will be called "States of Being".
