Very true. The same player will sound pretty much the same on all clarinets.

too flat! a lot of annotations are given on the score. The same thema is repeated a lot of times, so you must vary a lot.

@beckpatr1 I think that depends on who you ask and why you think the German system is better. Tonally there isnt much in it. In fact I play clarinet in an orchestra where everyone apart from me plays the German system and my sound it just as good as any of theirs. The tone comes from the player not the clarinet. Mechanically the french / boehm clarinet is eleganter and efficienter.

sutermeister was/is a very good composer, unfortunately a bit forgotten right now although this year will be celebrated his 100th birthday... in AUGUST! i love his cello concertos! and his REQUIEM!
