This is my stab at the organ solo played by Tony Banks in the Apocalypse in 9/8 segment of Supper's Ready. It was played on a Nord C2 and recorded with a Korg Kronos X 88. The backing track is a tweaked MIDI file, which is why it sounds a little crappy, and the video was taken with a 3rd gen iPad.

Pretty well done. I just wish you'd have used a different sound, which would've allowed you to achieve the staccato that Tony did.So much of the sinister atmosphere of this solo is generated by those short, sharp notes.

Thank you! I don't have sheet music, I'm afraid. There are plenty of MIDI files of Supper's Ready that can give you a good start on this piece, but the trickiest part to learn is between 1:50 - 2:09 as everyone seems to have their own take on it. I tried to stay as close to the original as I could. I use Anytune Pro+ for the iPad - you can slow music down to learn complicated passages.

Great playing, I am just starting to learn key boards and would love the chance to try to play this piece. Do you have the sheet music for it? I would be willing to pay for a copy if you have it. Thanks

Thanks dude! Everybody seems to play the middle part (1:50 - 2:09) differently, so you just have to try and work it out as best as you can. I used to play for a Genesis tribute band, so I can't even estimate how much time I spent hunched over my keyboards to learn the parts. I plan on posting a few more examples soon!

Fine job. Lots of time and effort on your part. Not 100% but very very close considering the talent of Mister Banks and how long the solo is---ah the good old days for us fellow keyboards players. GREAT job man-I've had bits worked out before, but never put it all together. I surely would like to hear any pieces that you've written. If you have the patience to spend that much time on somebody else's song, I'd love to hear what your own style is like. Keep up the great work--I totally enjoyed.

Just try playing it at 120 bpm like we used to... it'll bend your finger bones :-)

Still got it eh Mark..... If ya took the backing track away, that's what I'd sound like playing keys ;-)
