Downloads of the MIDI and PDF file of the piano solo as well as the MP3 and MIDI file of the backing track are available on my web site at http://www.Lot2Learn.com

One of my favorite minor-type blues, I figured I better get this one uploaded before the summer ends. I have added some notations to explain some of the techniques I use during the solo. As usual, it's all about tension and resolve.

Tech notes: I decided to use the BIAB midi keys on this video to try and show the left and right hands in different colors - it's pretty accurate. Sorry about the video quality of the piano. I'm having some slight technical impairment that I'm trying to work through.

As always, thanks for listening, and thanks for your continued support.

Excellent playing, voicing, soloing!! Wow! Maybe some day I could play like this....someone may have already commented on this, but remembering all my theory classes, I think that when you approach the G7b9 chords you use a D7#9 (F#, C, F) which is incorrectly labeled as a Dm7b5. Right??? The half diminished would still work, but maybe not with the same amount of bluesy feeling.Anyway, can't say enough about how spectacular this tutorial is!!

How do you know which extensions to use? if you were reading a lead sheet for the first time would you play extensions still or would you stick to the basic chords written until you had a chance to figure out which extensions are good to use?

I love your tutorials and playing! but as a jazz pianist how do you know which chord voicings to use and when? like for the majority of chords in this piece you don't play what the chord chart says. eg When it says Cm7 at the beginning you use an Eb,A and D which surely would be more of a Cm9 add13? The one thing holding back my jazz playing is knowing what to play in the left hand. can you help?

I've probably listened to this version a hundred times and I never get tired of it. Trying to get my head around your voicing for the Dm7b5 which includes the f#. It sounds great, but that doesn't seem to fit the chord. Why does that work there?
