This is the result of a music project where the pupils in my class were to make a music video of their favourite song, describing the toping and meaning of the lyrics. They chose "We're All to Blame" by Sum 41; especially because of the lyrics.
They got really involved in trying to help people less fortunate; for instance the 16 children collected more than $7000 for 'Save The Children' from sponsors by walking 6 million meters during the school year. This video was made to promote their fight against hate, greed, ignorance and indifference.
They are also some of the band's biggest fans.
We used several weeks and 8 metres of paper to prepare for the filming.
Yes, it is lip syncing - by a girl - but bear in mind that the children have no instrument or vocal experience and that they are only 11 and 12 years old. I myself have very limited editing skills, and a lot of the editing is done together with the children. It is recorded with an old DV camcorder.
So we know it's far from perfect :) The point of this video is to express the message in the lyrics (that we are all responsible and that we CAN make a difference); not mainly to make it look like they are actually playing and singing :o)
This is the children's way to spread this message.
