@CarMoves: I'm not showing my ignorance. Just voicing my opinion like you. You think they are good. You see, that is what people like you are like. What you like is best and what other people like is shit. Well, other people think that what you like might be 'shit' ok ? Sorry, but you'll have to live with it. Whats next ? My daddy is bigger than your daddy ? Is that the mentality ?

@CarMoves: God, you are really thick ! Read what I said. Jools Holland (ex Squeeze) is an admirer of their (esp Mutya's) songwriting. How is THAT comparing them with Squeeze. I dont compare anyone with anyone, because its infantile to do so. Your inability to understand even simply-stated sentences is painful. Look, if you like, youre right, everyone else is wrong. You win, I'm tired, now piss off

@CarMoves: Please advise where I compared anyone with anyone ? Your IQ is is too low for me to continue. Read properly !!!! The Smiths ??? They are a joke over here !

@ipolson -- you just showed your ignorance -- Joy Division is cited as a major influence by decades of multi-platinum bands: The Smiths, Radiohead, No Doubt, The Cure, just to name a few; they've had at least 2 major films made about them; and referred to in countless other films and books; and many have covered their songs on albums and live. How many cite the Sugababes? And to compare Squeeze, Bach, Hendrix, The Beatles, et al, to this "music" is laughable.

@CarMoves: 'Anyone who learns chords can write a song...doesn't make them a musician'...what, you mean like Joy Division ? You think after 35 years of playing I just know chords ? You know nothing so stop assuming you are some expert. You know nothing about my musical ability and your opinion is no more valid than anyone else's, including mine. End

@CarMoves: Whatever......you obviously are more qualified that Jools Holland so I will retire on this. What is 'shit' is subjective. No one can PROVE that a piece of music is better than any other piece. Some might be more inventive and clever than others (Beatles being a good example), I find this when I play stuff on guitar or keyboards. Doesn't make it BETTER than any other music. Whether it is better is solely down to personal opinion. Have a nice day.

@ipolson -- I knew you were a musician when you used the word "dynamics". And if you think this song is good, maybe you should throw in the towel. You are correct that all "music uses the same notes, chords, keys", just like all literature uses the same letters and words. The talent comes in their order and execution.. Anyone who learns the alphabet, can write a story -- doesn't make them a "writer". Anyone who learns chords, can write a song -- doesn't make them a "musician".

@CarMoves: Jools Holland (ex Squeeze and one of the best musicians ever) is a big admirer of Mutya and Keisha's songwriting and they appeared on his Jools Holland and Friends album (among all the 'rock' groups. This was pre-2005 when they had credibility. I suppose Jools Holland knows zero about music...hmm ?

@CarMoves: Your mentality and logic is dumb. I am sure there are Donny Osmond or Lady Gaga vids that have 10 times the views of Joy Division. What does that prove ? Nothing !

@CarMoves: I am a musician for over 35 years. You obviously are not. Like most musicians, I dont distinguish between 'genres or artists'. If a song is good musically, its good, whether its Bach, Bluegrass, Hendrix, Robert Johnson or anyone. It is you who has no clue about music. Music uses the same notes, chords, keys whoever the 'artist' happens to be. You are just a 'fan' who knows fuck all.

@ipolson -- Political? Yes, those words are very profound!. "Meat is Murder" is political, genius, not this tripe. And don't compare this crap to the Beatles. The only reason haters are here is because they've named the song "Joy Division". This video has 3,000 views -- most Joy Division videos have millions of views -- proves my point. If you think this is music, you have zero clue about music.

@CarMoves: Its political, and obviously above your head, but there you go. I do find it strange on YT the way people hate a band/song but visit that band's page just to slag it off, when 99.9% of people will seek it out because they like it ! You get people viewing Beatles vids and saying 'The Beatles are shit'. So why view them ? Odd. As for Joy Division being great, well, thats your opinion, they send some people to sleep. We all got opinions.

@ipolson -- With a line like "I am not a piece of meat sitting in a delicatessen'", who cares what the song is about.

@CarMoves: You obviously dont know what the lyrics are referring to, and because you dont, you make a silly comment.

CarMoves

@ipolson -- yeah with prose like "I am not a piece of meat sitting in a delicatessen'" -- the song is amazing

@damianoTM: Because its about the divison of joy and conflict 'I am not a piece of meat sitting in a delicatessen' 'Are you scared you'll get blown up?'. Brilliant song, brilliant words. Nothing to do with Joy Division the band.

@CarMoves: Its a great song, full of energy and dynamics, with great words. The subject matter has nothing to do with the band Joy Division (who incidently stole the name themselves !). But it probably didnt do them any harm given that the SB's were a chart topping band at the time.
