Sorry, everything after Despise the Sun is fucking boring. Suffocation is easily one of my top 10 favorite bands but that won't keep me from a calling a spade a spade. After Despise, Suffocation really just re-hashed their previous songwriting structure with halfhearted and lackluster effort. What I liked about early Suffocation was how different each album was and how they began to incorporate hardcore, jazz and death metal into a juggernaut of truly groundbreaking metal. Suffocation single-handedly influenced an entire genre of Death Metal simplistically labelled "Brutal Death Metal". There really aren't too many bands who can claim such accolades, but Suffocation got back together for purely monetary reasons, and it shows in their recent releases.9 years ago

This band is one of those bands to me, that only have one great album, and the rest are too boring and generic compared to this. Do any of the other suffocation albums sound even a bit like this? I mean. brutal yet groovy drumming, brutal vocals yet i understand every word(which is good in my books), super audible bass+ technically awesome riffs.9 years ago
