The Swanee Quintet - 70 Years: The Legacy Continues Audio CD Original Release Date: 2009

In 2009, The Swanee Quintet celebrated 70 years of singing gospel music with the release of the CD The Legacy Continues. The CD is a mixture of old and new material. The CD also serves to introduce the new members of the group. Many remember the legends that were members of The Swanee Quintet, Charlie Barnwell (Founder), Rufus Washington, Willie Bush, James “Big Red” Anderson, William Crawford, Floyd Fouch, Oscar Bing, Ruben Willingham, and Purcell Dunbar. Other members that aided in fashioning the Swanee’s unique style of gospel music were Johnny Jones, Percy Griffin, Augustus Mims, Johnnie Mims, Clarence Murray and Eddie Bynes. Percy Griffin, Johnnie Mims and Eddie Bynes are still with the group. The other current members are Mario Smith, Marciano “M & M” McKie, Charles Green, Colby Weaver and George Drummond.
