The first time I ever heard of Stryper was when they were on the Wally George Show...there happens to be a clip from that show in the column on the right there. This was the song they plugged during that show. I thought it was great and bought the album the next day.

I remember seeing these guys back in '84 at Red Rocks Amphitheater near Denver. A bonus to my vacation that year! REAL ROCK & ROLL and they threw bibles to the crowd. What a ministry and message!! I would never have thought they would still be rocking 30 years later.....truly Blessed!

Saying Slayer sucks...well that's your opinion and I respect that. You're right about some of their songs having to do with evil, but not all of their songs are about that. Metallica has songs about war (Fight Fire With FIre, Disposable Heores, etc...) but that doen't make them war mongers. Same goes with Slayer, just because they have songs about evil, doesn't mean they worship Satan. You gotta read between the lines and see the subject is from another person's perspective.

Oh, I'm not Christian by any means. I'm about the music and music only. I was listening to Stryper before I knew they were a Christian band, I thought they were singing about a girl in Calling on You, but I was quite young back then. I agree with you that Stryper makes some good music. And I should have figured Tom was Catholic being hispanic. I knew he was something, and went to chruch.

tom araya is CATHOLIC there is a difference. the hardest thing about turning christian, is i am a core headbanger, thrasher 'till death. but these guys do have some REALLY good stuff, i'm not saying that JUST because they sing about god (which i like for a change) but because their riffs are deadly good and mikey sweet can sing pretty decently. from a METAL standpoint, better than some other 80's metal bands i love

Oh, this is metal. Metal has no religion, no colour, no race. Look at Ozzy, one of thefathers of metal...he believes in God.
