I have a keen ear for musical clones and am a harsh critic of rip-offs--but I have to say that the Metallica and the Black Label Society cuts are distinctly different from the Down by the Sea intro. The first four or five notes match, but the harmony thereafter is not only different, but invokes a completely different mood.

The most ingenious and talented rock band of all time (except maybe Procol Harum). Great rip of a great song--thanks, pulsar.

#retroalbum of the week: it's about 40 years since the Strawbs released "Bursting at the Seams", and (I think) almost exactly 40 since I went to hear them in concert. They were the first proper live band I ever went to hear. They were very loud, and I was blown away. The track below is a high point of the album. Their major hit single "Part of the Union" is on there too, but don't let that put you off, it's otherwise excellent.

Yes. You are right cweatherhill. Blue Weaver did replace Rick Wakeman first in Strawbs. Weaver not staying very long unfortunately.

Blue Weaver replaced Rick Wakeman on keyboards. John Hawken replaced Weaver.
