I am a happy owner of a copy of a promo flexi disc single of Strawberry Switchblade. Yes I've listened to it and it was for the release of the "upcoming album" or something like that. one side recorded only, with an autograph of Jill Bryce (which I think is fake)

I know the song from the radio show "New Music Foundation" that was on air in the years around "85 to "90 at CHOM 97,7 Montreal. Claude Rajotte was hosting the show ! I like the sound like a telegraph in Another day.

Love the tippy-tappy drum programming and sequencer work on this. Also the deliberately monotonous strumming @1'08. I was 23 when this came out - and fancied Jill Bryson something terrible! Luckily, I had an understanding girlfriend who was quite happy to dress like Rose & Jill did. Such great memories!

Am I the only one who hears what sounds like a circuit bent Speak & Spell/Read in parts of this song (both at 1:53-2:01 and starting again around 2:48, up 'til the end)? Seems odd that they would have one in a studio back then, but it really sounds uncanny. I wonder if it was just some weird synth patch. If you have a higher-quality recording to go by than the one on yt, you can hear it even more distinctly. Also, I love Strawberry Switchblade. I shouldn't forget to mention that!
