I love this song. I respect the Russians. I know they love their children as much as I love mine. I don't fear a nuclear attack from Russia. We are not so different. Russians don't want to die. Russians don't want their children to die. Russians don't fly airplanes into buildings. Russians don't turn their children into suicide bombers. No, Russians don't turn their own children into suicide bombers. I hope the Muslims love their children, too.

Dunno if Sting ever thought that this song would become so "uptodate" ever again - after almost 30 years... :-(  WTF Putin!? People of Russia rise against him - he may lead us all into hell!

@Zero123499 It simply means he has more trust in the fact that they (Russians) love their children and don't want to kill them in a mutual nuclear holocaust then believing that the political leaders and their strategies secure peace. In my mind he was absolutely right.

as an american....having lived through it....fearing every plane that flew over my house....i have no feelings for the russians...after sept 11, i did see them land troops in afganistan...and it helped...but, they could have done more...everyone of those countries over there could have done more...and obviously pakistan was protecting bin laden....

Hello. For those who are not aware of this song context, it was written in the period of the Cold War, in a time when Russia (URSS) and USA were jousting for the word domination and the nuclear threat was something very real (see the cuban crisis on google). So, this song relates the hope that the russians love their children so that they don't go to a war (never winnable as he says) or respond to anything from the USA. Cheers!

@Zero123499 What he is saying, is that if the Russians Love there children it wouldn't come down to Nuclear war.
