I listen to this album a lot to try and help me understand my deceased father, who was a selfish drinker and gambler, who never really had any time for me. It's cathartic in some ways, but ultimately, it's awesome music. Sting was on top of the world when he wrote this.

I saw Sting and co. in concert in support of this album at the Costa Mesa Amphitheatre, Costa Mesa CA. (in Orange County)Went alone at the very last minute cause 2 buddies of mine bailed the day before. Went to a ticket agency, bought 1 ticket at face value, 22 bucks. Ended up 9 rows from the front, slightly off center. Was VERY glad my buddies bailed, otherwise I wouldn't have scored such a prime seat. Needless to say the concert wasAMAZING!!!!!!!!!!!

To me this not only about a lost father but grieving for that fathers working life. A working man live like a slave. I have a "good" job but it's hard as hell. Men 10 years older than me look 20 years older. at 55 they are worn down. They all have addictions of one sort or another. Anything to keep your mind off the fact you are going to go back to a job where you will sweat till the outside is as as wet as the inside like you had stepped into a shower with your clothes on. You also might die crushed by the machines you keep running. You are always nursing a burn or bruise or cut.
