The best is saved to last - not always played live but is amazing when they do! Played as the second encore normally this extended version of the Bob Marley song highlights Jake Burns' love affair with Reggae and was recorded in 1999 on the Hope St Tour

I absolutely fell in love with "Johnny Was" from SLF's Hanx LP the first time I heard it when I was in college sometime around 1980/81 on one of college radio stations in NC (either Winston Salem or UNC Greensboro). My roommate and I recorded tons of punk and "new wave" on my Sony reel-to-reel through his Heathkit receiver with dual headphone inputs. Needless to say, "partaking", playing backgammon all weekend with headphones on and listening to the hours recorded music were some of the best times in college I'm able to (vaguely) remember ;-). After graduation, we split the tapes between us. For me, the best version of Johnny Was is on the "Hanx" LP. It is THE quintessential version - hands down. Great, great song performed with passion and commitment.
