Brian's slide made the Stone's music so bluesy in these early sessions. Not to mention being the best harp player blowing blues rock. He also had some very good early solos, like on I Wanna Be Your man. Keith and Ian both had personal reasons for down playing Brian's playing and influence.

Vaguely reminds me of Chuck Berry's "Blue Feeling" (B-side of "Rock And Roll Music").Great recording; I've never heard this one before.

Yes I believe this is Brian's signature work. What blew people away in those seedy subterranean clubs in London & beyond. Before all the fame & pressure.

@exapno ventilator blues, midnight rambler... keith could play slide.. quite well actually, just not as well as brian mick or ronnie.. thts all, they were slide experts. keith is a rhythm expert, but can also play lead quite well too... just remember who he had behind him... great guitarists.

That is an old Stones Myth that Brian was absent - this was recorded on the Stones first visit to Chess, June 1964. Brian was there for the two days of recording. According to Wyman, this recorded at the same time Down in the Bottom, I Can't Be Satisfied, and dozen tracks on which Brian plays brilliant, inspired slide. There is no way Keith has EVER, or WILL ever play such beautiful slide. That is why Keith has always needed that second guitar to have the chops to play a decent slide.

Interesting instrumental - hard to tell who's playing what on it though: Brian Jones, Ian Stewart, Chess backing musicians?

This sounds like a Howlin' Wolf song, can't remember the title, If I never wake up, something...
