There are popular artists today like Alicia Keys, Erykah Badu, Raphael Saadiq and rappers like Jay Electronica, Outkast, and Tupac was known for being a concious rapper to those that know ALL his work. There were singers in the 70s just as quick to sing about their shiny new Cadillacs and women. Sometimes black folk need to stop and smell the roses instead of always looking to trash.
