I dont think that Stevie Wrote it for Michael, matterfact he himself said that it was his sister that brought it to his attention that Michael Jackson actually recorded it.

MJ is the goat, and eventhough Stevie wrote this for MJ, I still like MJ's version better

I wonder if this is the original key he wrote this song for MJ and maybe Quincy changed it for MJ to sing it comfortably. Things that make u go 'Hmmm'!!!

this is not a comparison or duel or even who likes or thinks mj or stevie was better. but yes i named mj among those listed because some points of mj's career stevie did work with and inspire michael. remember they were both on motown. they were close,& mj did sessions with& covers of stevie(buttercup,i was made to love her,i don't know why i love you,you havent done nothing,i can't help it,all i do,we are the world, gettin it). i agree both are influential, but i named mj because of inspiration.

i do agree with your analyzing of production in neosoul. now some these cats can sing.. my list was rather long but ,i did forget rahsaan patterson, whom i'm a die hard fan. i was on a roll and i guess i was refering to the earliest and the more known over the years artists. i was just answering the question about naming folks who have this song's style. mj & stevie were close friends,& they had their hustles. both were great singers and songwriters;stevie was musician, while mj had rhythm.

this is one of the songs neosoul was built upon. The chord and production in thi song are trendsetters. This is not neosoul.Nesoul are new artists starting in the mid 90s until today with elements of this music from the 70s but also hiphop elements.I dont particualry like it.Soul is a generic term often use to describe any kind of black music, but if you like this song you need to look jazzy, smooth jazz, jazz fusion from the 70s,Specially late 70s very early 80s. Rahsaan Patterson sounds similar

I can tbelieve you listed Michael jackson along all those neosoul R&B artists..4real..yes theres only 1 stevie but there only one MJ.And he ha been as infleuntial as Stevie if not more.MJ was a trendsetter not a folower even though he had hi infleunce jut like anybody.Stevie had ray charles, nat king cole, duke ellington, beatles, All teh guys you mention are wannabes MJ n Stevie. We all are basically

Im not feeling the neosoul artists, there too much hihop influence looping, even thogh they use inturments samples..I prefer oldschool R^B hands down. These people made SONGS not beats. People now sit in the studio copy and paste beats and call it a song.Even if you have musicians performing beat..thats still beats.YOu need a composer, songwriter and musicians not a looped drum,4 cords on the rhodes repeating over n over again for 4 minutes.IMHO

one group from minneapolis who has a sorta prince but stevie influence is mint condition. they are very versatile and melodic but are a rnb band. you may like myron's first album, dwele, bilal, and pushing it to raphael saddiq and babyface. maybe you heard of these folks over the years. esparanza spalding recently remade i cant help it and her last album was a grammy winner.

It is soul.i dont have to say who stevie is . many stevie wonder clones in the rnb/neosoul world of today. there is one stevie but people like michael jackson, guy, aaron hall, charlie wilson of the gap band,r kelly, eric benet, glenn lewis,v,marc dorsey, keith john, john legend, musiq soul child, india arie, donnie, donell jones,hi 5, tevin campbell, mary j blige & jodeci were all inspired by stevie wonder in various parts of their career. donny hathaway is deeper but he is in these folks hearts as well.

Where can I find more danceable music like this? Is this what you would call "Soul" or "Neo Soul" or what?

Listen, tehre is confusion between art and skills. You can be an instrument virtuoo, study piano for 7 years, and still you wont be able to compoe what stevie or Mj did.Just for ur info,MJ heard full complex chords in his mind and could dictate you each note of the chord. He didnt even need an inturment for writing music, thats how talented he was.Have you heard of mozart and bethoven, just writing music without a piano...tahts what im talking about.he was amusical genius and he played intruments
