We're driving fastFrom a dream of the pastTo the brave new worldWhere nothing will lastThat comes from the pastIt's a brave new worldPut a smile on your faceAs we walk with spaceIn the brave new worldNow as you beginYou're born once againWith the rising sun

"Brave New World"We're driving fastFrom a dream of the pastTo the brave new worldWhere nothing will lastThat comes from the pastIt's a brave new worldPut a smile on your faceAs we walk with spaceIn the brave new worldNow as you beginYou're born once againWith the rising sunSomething new, nothing oldSomething true, something goldNo spirit of the pastCan hold you backFrom the brave new worldThe direction to startIs inside your heartTo the brave new worldIf you're free in your heartYou can make a new startIt's a brave new worldThere's nothing to hideLeave your troubles behindIt's a brave new worldI told you, my friendAnd I'll tell you againYour trip has begunSomething new, nothing oldSomething true, something goldThe direction to startIs inside your heartTo the brave new world

fireblossom2u you have it exactly right; This older stuff is much better than the later stuff. UndergroundRelapse, The Joker falls into this later stuff, and you are wrong; The joker was meant to make money from teeny boppers and you love it.

One on Steve's guitar teachers was a family friend, Les Paul. You can't hear much Les in Steve's guitar playing but you can hear a lot of Les Paul and Mary Ford vocals in his and his band's vocals.

One of the best live shows ever : Steve Miller doing this tour 1970.....Mind -blowing power trio rock....

Great stuff. An album my brother brought home right after it came out. I played it about every week for four years. And, a little-known fact... Paul McCartney played drums, bass guitar, and sang backing vocals on "Celebration Song" and "My Dark Hour"--though, he is credited as Paul Ramon. You can really hear him using that "Birthday"-type voice in "My Dark Hour." Great stuff! Thanks for downloading. And, I agree... Steve Miller Band's first five albums were the best stuff.

@motorcityquig I agree that Steve's earlier music was his best. Then he decided to make some money. I do not fault him for wanting to take care of his family and friends financially. At least we have his early music.

@motorcityquig While the music they produced later was not that good of quality, The Joker is a way better song than this.

Brave New World - Miller, Steve Band [San Francisco, California] - 1969 - "Opening the Steve Miller Band's album of the same name, 'Brave New World' begins with an orgy of white noise which rears its head throughout the recording at strategic points. One of the best album openers of the period." - Brave New World (Capitol)-1989.

Arguably the best Steve Miller song. It's mine anyway.

A very underated album. Long before Steve sold out with The Joker.

@51mikew No problem. I was surprised not to see it on YouTube along with a lot of other great stuff.
