An angry patriotic tune. Woody Guthrie would be proud. This land is still our land.

@azegas Erm, I didn't make myself clear, I'm sorry - what I said was meant in support of Steve Earle. What I meant to say was: if people don't like musicians expressing political opinions, they should listen to Bach. You're spot-on about Ted Nugent by the way :-) and I guess about Sammy Hagar too. Personally, I remember being deeply disappointed that Rick Wakeman, a childhood hero of mine, turned out to be a supporter of Margaret Thatcher. Ah well... I'll play Stve Earle's records instead!

@JohnnyTRex99 Whereas you clearly do NOT know the difference between freedom of speech and censorship. I'm from the Netherlands; if I would say something about the 'motherfucking USA', well sir, I'd understand if it would piss you off (and I wouldn't dream of doing that), but it's only in very evil states that saying something like that would actually get you into trouble. Using the word treason the way you do is a serious threat to the freedom the USA stands for - or SHOULD stand for.

@peyoteugly Or listen to Johann Sebastian Bach. He sure as F won't be meddling in today's political opinions...

what you hear on CMT today is crap, pop music crap, so is rap, hip hop, and everything else you hear on MTV. the real artist like Neil Young, Tom Petty ect...will soon be gone. and I dont hear anyone taking there place.and that is sad.

Some of Johnny's early stuff on Sun was rock and roll as far as im concerened . He rocked man ! It's funny how some people can just ignore the fact that he gave" Nashville" the finger ! he did it on film , the mainstream country music business turned there back's on him in the 60's and 70's now the CMT flag waving no talent cookiecutter bullshitters are trying to claim his "country roots" now that he's dead and can't give them the finger too .

I've been listening to Johnny Cash's "Bitter Tears" recently... I've heard that right-wingers freaked out over it and country radio wouldn't play it when it came out in the early 60's. Nothing really changes, it just that the mainstream gets even lamer, so true outlaw country music like Steve Earle seems more radical by comparison.

steve earle is O.G. country, which is OUTLAW MUSIC. if you want an artist who celebrates the status quo and conservatism, don't listen to outlaw music. listen to toby keith.
