I never understood John Kay not liking bass players.....jeeesh. I'm a bass player, and I saw Steppenwolf around this time, and yes, they were great. But they could have been a lot better if they had employed a bass guy that had a nice gritty rumble to his sound, a Jack Casady-ish type of bassist.
