John Kay was never one to shy away from social and political issues. One of their best songs. I do not own the rights to any of the content of this video.

I fell in love with this band the very first time I ever heard them. My very 2 favorites are #2 Power Play and # 1 Monster. All their songs work as well today as they did back then. To me, they chaged the face of rock forever, and so did my other favorite, Jimi Hindrix. Were we ever fortunate to have been teens back in that fantastic creative time.

Coming of age in the '60's, Steppenwolf was THE band for social commentary. While I had my own troubles with "the contraband" there remains the un-doubtful truth that the Government line is rarely the truth. Love this song.

I'veread some coments. I'm a veteran and I'm against violence unless its needed. People think because I am willing to go back in if war happened that I want war. No I do not. I consider it merely my duty because of my oath. I respect those who feel different its their right. I do support peace and Steppenwolf has been one of my favorites since I was a little kid and I love their music. This is a great one. Dont step on the grass Sam. Legalize it. It helps with many PTSD symptoms among veterans as well as victims of violent crime including those who defended what they hold dear by deadly means against a deadly threat at home such as a break in. it also helps cancer patients with pain and in all studies either slows stops or reverses the growth of tumors. its the cure if we work toward finding what in it shrinks tumors

General Westmoreland asked president Johnson for 1 MILLION American troops in Viet Nam! My Generation said no and so did I !I think at least 20 million more innocents would have died. Talk to the ladies in the rest of the world before you start another war of adventure, No Donald!

a perfect example of freedom and Rebellion it should make people ashamed of what we came from in the sixties and seventies to what we got now a bunch of sellouts he think oh I listen to this music so I'm a hippie and I believe in freedom but you won't fight for nothing you live in air conditioning you don't want to be real get real and feel the music
