Nice audio from where I was sitting for Steely Dan (8/25/09) featuring Jon Herington on lead guitar.

Great Song-Great Job!

Let me clarify. I meant to say Fagan's voice. And I also meant that his specific performance on this song on YouTube. His vocal was weak. Don't get me wrong, I love his voice. It's just that this specific performance was poor. Herrington's phrasing is a bit odd in the timing department and his choices are somewhat predictable. That's I think Buzz Feiten would have been a more fluid and original voice and could have brought an extra dimension to the music.

Thanks so much BassKlef1 - my favorite Fagen/Becker song and the closing, haunting guitar solo with all those sweet n/ sour chord progressions could go on forever and EVER.........magical musicianship. Makes me want to practice though I'd NEVER come close.

@BassKlef1 I have really fallen in love with Jon Harrington's guitar playing, the more I see and hear him. You did a great job capturing this, as the audio quality is amazing, considering you got it with a camcorder from where you were sitting. Fagen sounds great in this one too. Leaves me yearning for the rest of it.

BassKlef1 got me all wrong...Fagen's voice that night was horrid and off-tune which ruined thae THAT PARTICULAR NIGHT. IF you knew of Buzz Feiten you wouldn't prefer Herington over him.. THere is no comparison. Feiten is in a different league.

@bobsacco good opinion but the only opinion that counts are form Becker and Fagen. They pick the musicians on their tour and I feel Herington is a great choice. You mean Fagen's voice? It wouldn't be Steely Dan if it weren't for Fagen's voice and all that goes along with the Steely Dan sound. It's like ordering a "Big Mac" but you want a chicken patty instead-it wouldn't be a Big Mac anymore.

I love this song. But frankly, Becker's voice kind of ruined the song for me. Herington is a fine guitar player but I would have given the gig to Buzz Feiten because he plays with more melodic expression and dynamics and is simply still one of the best players for POP in the biz.

What was so great about that concert was the fact that they played " Gaucho " from beginning to end. After they finished the whole album in order they played a great selection of old hits. The band has the usual setup on stage and if it appears that they look far back, its merely a combination of the size of the Gibson stage along with heavy usage of spot lights.Fagen sings almost all the songs as Becker's voice has seen better days. All in all, everyone in attendance got their money's worth.

It makes me sick that this song was absent when I saw then in 2006 and 2008.
