Maybe I'm a little crazy but I have always been a Steely Dan fan.Who doesn't love the solos melodies and the words I also liked poco and one song I loved off the album head over heels was called DALLASIt wasn't until I read a book about Steely Dan that I found out that this song was written by B&FGreat that it has more likes than dislikes

Well played and arranged. Too bad the song in a snoozer.

The record company pulled the single because they felt the song had too much of a country/western feel. to it which juxtaposed Steely Dan's otherwise Jazz based rock.

Greg Rollie sang lead vocals. I had the honor of singing back up with my song writing partner when I worked at ABC Records

This was the first Steely Dan release. It came out as a single (b/w Sail the Waterway) before the release of Can't Buy a Thrill.

I have never heard this, I love it. I'm a big Dan fan and I've never heard this...was it rejected from an album? It's fully produced.

The steel playing sounds similar to pearl of the quarter

Boy Monica, What? A year after I wrote this piece your now finding it and taking the time to write me...I just wonder what other productive things you can do with your time than respond to a piece I wrote and totally forgot about and furthermore could give a rats ass about.

I KNOW it's Hodder singing the body. That's obvious. I can hear Palmer singing harmony and the "I remember when they told me so" part. It was fairly common for them to switch vocals around in their early incarnation, with "Turn That Heartbeat Over Again" having parts for Becker, Fagen and Palmer.

See Above reply to "Hotwat".. and YES, this IS Hodder.. no doubt about it..

Try this.. go listen to 'Midnight Cruiser" ( off "Can't Buy a Thrill") which Hodder sang SO beautifully... THEN -listen to "Dirty Work" ( Palmer on vocal..) That oughta clear it up for ya. This is most definitely Hodder. What a great voice he had.. not too shabby of a drummer, neither!!

Pretty sure it's Palmer...

I don't think so. Hodder doesn't sound anything like that. Sounds like Palmer to me. And you can't convince me otherwise.
