its an old British folk song that was originally published in 1830, which means it was probably written far earlier. Maddy and Steel Eye Span immortalized it with their big hit in 1975.

@robibm2003 Status Quo were always a really TIGHT band... they had few pretentions, but what they did, they did WELL! And it does look as if everyone including Maddy is having a good time on this! The Quo fellows always had a sense of humor too.. check out their "Quo-ized "versions of other songs... eg 'Wild Side of Life'... ;-)
